Appeltheater
Toneelgroep De Appel is the most important company in the Netherlands when it comes to extraordinary and extensively staged productions, both at home and abroad. Most of the performances can be seen in the group's own Appeltheater.
The company is known for extraordinary theatre productions in both the Netherlands and abroad. Most of the performances are held in their own Appeltheater, a unique building which continues to surprise its audiences, making them imagine themselves to be in completely new surroundings.
De Appel also performs at other special locations, such as on the beach of Scheveningen, on the Frisian island of Terschelling or in Cape Town.
An excellent ensemble of actors - in which all generations are represented - form the core of the company, all this under the guidance of Aus Greidanus. The directions are carried out by Aus Greidanus, David Geysen, Geert de Jong and guest directors.
The Appeltheater
For more than 30 years, De Appel has been performing in its own Appeltheater, once the coach house for The Hague's horsedrawn trams and now a flexible and attractive theatre. A theatre in which the company can experiment and in which the audience can be set up to match the play.
The Appeltheater has three auditoriums in which performances can be produced: the main auditorium with a capacity of between 300 and 500 people (depending on the stand's set-up) and two small studios each providing space for about 100 seats.
