Visitors to the steaming PopHotSpot Summer Festival at the Grote Markt will enjoy live outdoor pop concerts for three weeks long from 2 to 25 June. The festival will feature Dutch as well as international musicians playing everything from hot jazz and country music to African pop and alternative rock. It is the place to be for excellent live music and a fun and informal atmosphere.
The Paard van Troje and Grote Markt will organise the biggest open air festival in the Netherlands from 2 to 25 June: the PopHotSpot Summer Festival 2011.
There is no doubt that will be a fabulous edition for the free PopHotSpot Summer Festival. The line-up for the PopHotSpot Summer Festival features American soul legend Bobby Womack, modern jazz singer Peter Cincotti and bluegrass band Small Time Crooks. Music lovers, fun seekers and seasoned festival goers will be in their element on the Grote Markt for three weeks long starting on Thursday, June 2.
Festival highlights
On Thursday, 16 June the festival will feature The Hague Jazz Warming Up with the American singer, songwriter and pianist Peter Cincotti. In 2002 Cincotti reached number 1 on the Billboard traditional jazz charts, the youngest solo artist to do so to date. American soul singer Bobby Womack will also take to the stage during the Warming Up concert. Womack's career has spanned more than 40 years in R&B, soul, rock and roll, doo-wop, gospel and country. In 2009 Womack was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Other festival highlights include the Silent Disco on 4, 11 and 25 June and the PopHotSpot Kids Day on Sunday, 5 June. African sounds will abound with the free The Hague African Festival Preview with Wafisu on Sunday, 19 June. And the fifth edition of Shopping Night will once again take place in The Hague's city centre on Thursday, 23 June with a catwalk on the Grote Marktstraat and urban sounds blasting from the stage at the PopHotStpot.

The cafes and bars on the Grote Markt are also joining forces with the Paard van Troje music club to organise the PopHotSpot. Live performances are organised all year round at the Grote Markt and in summer they come together to organise the PopHotSpot Summer Festival. Previous editions attracted around 20,000 visitors.
